Right now, I have a magnet on my fridge at home from a real estate agency. There’s a realtor’s portrait on it; he’s wearing a beige tie on a mauve shirt, all cast over a beige background. It’s awful. Nevertheless, every time I want a beer, I look at his beige-washed existence and think about how much my house could sell for.
I have a drawer in my kitchen filled with cut-out from pizza box tops. If I collect 10, I get a free pizza… and I’m up to 8. The pizza’s not the best pizza I’ve ever had, but it’s a good enough marketing ploy for me to buy 10 pizzas so I can get the 11th for free.
There’s a beautiful, high-quality printed catalogue that I keep on a shelf in my office. It’s for a company that sells motorcycle parts and equipment. Anytime I think about fixing one of my bikes or building a new one, I immediately refer to this catalogue. Did I mention it’s for an online parts store? Think about that…
